How do I run a test report?

We understand running successful payroll reports can be time sensitive. Fortunately, you can run test reports within our software at any time! The only difference between a test report and a real report is whether or not you actually use the data presented for payroll.

To run a test report, login and select dates for a smaller (or comparable) time period to your actual payroll cycle. For example, if your upcoming payroll run will be on Friday, June 25th for a prior two week period, it may make sense to run a smaller test report (perhaps for 7 or 10 days instead of 14) on Tuesday, June 22nd to verify the report completes successfully, the data presented makes sense to you, and you have enough time to reach out to Bitlancer Support in the event you need help debugging an issue.

We always recommend running test reports when it makes sense for your business. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • When you first setup Bitlancer. Additionally, we always recommend calculating your payroll manually the first time around and comparing the numbers to your Bitlancer report. If you’ve recently migrated to Mariana Tek, you likely will not be able to use Bitlancer successfully for dates prior to your migration.

  • When you’ve recently made changes. If you’ve adjusted your pay structure or updated class filters, we recommend running a test report multiple days prior to your next payroll run.

  • Every pay period. Even if you’re not sure if you’ve made any major changes since your last payroll run, it likely makes sense to run a test report one day prior to your next payroll run.

Remember! Running test reports ensures that Bitlancer Support will have enough time to assist you in the event you run into any issues or errors you need assistance resolving.

Our software does not limit you to running payroll calculation reports for dates that match your pay periods, even if you’re using our Gusto integration. However, if you are using the Gusto integration, please only select “Upload to Gusto” when you are ready to finalize payroll.
