How does rounding work within the software?

The following is an outline of how we handle rounding within our payroll reporting software for Mariana Tek.

Please Note: When you enable one or more third party integrations, we may change rounding behavior to accommodate the integration. Please contact Bitlancer Support for more information.

Within our software:

  • Dollar amounts are rounded to nearest cent ($0.00)

  • Hours are rounded to the nearest hundredth place (0.00)

In more detail:

  • Where currency is involved, Bitlancer never performs rounding during calculations.

  • Dollar amounts input on the payrate screens are rounded to the nearest cent ($0.00)

  • Time clock shifts pulled from Mariana Tek are rounded to nearest second (for example, 46.2451 is rounded to 46).

  • Within Bitlancer, time durations (such as the length of a time clock shift or class session) are internally stored as a number of seconds and converted to hours to the hundredths place (0.00) on display. This can lead to slight variations between an employee’s total hours and the display of individual shifts or class sessions.

    • As an example, if an employee works two shifts that are 1 hour and 17 seconds long during a pay period, their total hours will report as 2.01, whereas their individual shifts will report as 1.00.

When the Gusto integration is enabled:

  • Hours adjusted on the Gusto Payroll Upload screen are rounded to the nearest thousands place (0.000), the most significant digits Gusto supports.

  • When existing hours within Gusto (0.000) are merged with hours from Mariana Tek (0.00), the hours are summed without any rounding.

Please consult a CPA or tax professional to verify our methods of rounding work for your business.
