What are the different ways I can pay my instructors?

You can pay your instructors in three different ways (typically referenced as payrate types within our software):

  • Flat Rate: In this case, the instructor’s base rate is stored within our software. For example, $30/class.

  • Hourly by Class: The instructor is paid one hour of time for each class they teach, regardless of the length of the class. For example, if a class is 45 minutes, the instructor will still receive one hour of pay. Customers using this payrate type typically store the actual hourly rate of their instructor within their payroll software.

  • Hourly by Duration: The instructor is paid exact time for each class they teach. For example, if a class is 45 minutes, the instructor will receive 0.75 hours (or 45 minutes) of hourly pay. Customers using this payrate type typically store the actual hourly rate of their instructor within their payroll software.

You can also pay your instructor additional amounts by using incentives.

When using hourly by class or hourly by duration, the behavior of max pay is affected. For more details, please see this article.

Please consult a CPA or tax professional to determine which method(s) are right for you.
